teeth pain

My little one now has top chompers and he doesn't bite so much as really draw back when he's nursing and grips with his top teeth. I'm now getting these little cuts in the top of the nipple that hurt like hell--so much so a couple of nights I had to say enough and let dad get him back to sleep (which is what we need to be doing now anyway, but that's a different story).

Does this pass? Do your nipples go through another round of toughening up when the teeth are fully in? Do they learn not to grip so much?

My son now has practically a full set of teeth and it seem like when his latch is right I don't feel them at all. Which usually if he needs to nurse he will nurse correctly. But sometimes he will not latch on right and I just put my pinky in his mouth so he opens up and re-latch him on. If he bites I put him down.

Thanks. It's not so much a bite as just the rubbing. Especially when he delatches.
      • if you can predict when he's about to unlatch and assist with the finger to break the seal it helps a lot with the slurp off and yow action. I had to do that for a while. good luck
