Dear moms,

Anyone have experience with anxiety/depression meds?
I am considering taking some after nearly a year of outbursts, depression,etc..
I am still BF my 23 month old and want to continue, but don't want adverse effects for him. What about withdrawls should I stop?

Any advice appreciated,

  • have you tried hyland's 'calms forte' ... many moms here have had great success with it.
    • I like the Calms Forté..we have used it while nursing for now almost two years with no issue for either mama or baby. Our pediatrician was very supportive of its use as well. Check out the link and read some testimonials.

      • I have had some trouble falling asleep so I use it for that purpose. You should definitely consider seeing a therapist / doctor for what it sounds like you are going through. I wish you all the best.
        • How are you doing these days?

I know I responded on your other post, but wanted to share again here since nutritional therapies have been so useful for me.
And, of course, good nutrition enhances general health, rather than adding other side effects and safety concerns the way medications can.

led me to the incredibly helpful and user-friendly book, The Mood Cure by Julia Ross.
          www.moodcure.com/

GABA is an amino acid that I take once in a while to deal with stress and the short temper that comes with it.
It helps me get through PMS, and also get to sleep on nights when I know I'm going to lie there and make lists or fume all night otherwise.
Even calcium/magnesium has the same effect, to a milder extent.

Once you've read that book, the next handy thing I'd suggest would be acupuncture.

Best to you and yours. Please keep us updated!
