i just ordered a bravado nursing bra and nursing tank top.....

what do you recomend for easy to use tops...i would like to be able to nurse anywhere without calling too much attention to myself aka i don't want boobage hanging out. i was large busted pre-nursing and would like recomendations for styles that cover but i don't need to look like a nun.

thank you!

i would suggest button-down shirts, or loose t-shirts that are easy to pull up. i also *highly* recommend trying a snap-front bra. they're underwire to support your big mamas & they don't have that wierd stick-your-boob-thru-a-hole, flying buttress design. shelf bra tanks are a great investment. i lived in mine for the first 6 months. they offer support & a place to put the nursing pad. i always wanted a bunch of nursing tops with the hidden access, but could never afford them. you can makeshift some by layering a short or cut-off tee over a longer (lowcut) tee to hide any postpartum belly flub.

or use a bella band over your middle underneath your shirt...

i shelled out the $$ for a few specific for nursing tops and they were kind of a pain. in addition to freeing the girls from your bra, you also have to navigate the top. i just bought a few empire waist tops on the cheap from target and have been wearing those. the baby covers my tummy when she's nursing and the tops are loose enough around the middle to hide the mama to a newborn tummy. when i'm at home i mostly wear tank tops....

i really love my bravado nursing bras but i am definitely going to try the snap front style that you've suggested i-dee. once i get some extra money to spend, that is!

FYI, those snap front nursing bras are TOTALLY unavailable in-store, either at macy's or motherhood ... i believe the only place you can get them is online at macys.com ... it was such a bummer when i found this out and had to buy the pull-down style.

I'm all about layering when out in public, nursing tank with a tee over. The the top layer tee covers the boobage and the tank covers the belly flab. No need to pitch a tent so that passers by don't get an eye full. My babies hate having blankets over them while eating anyway, they rip them off, little exhibitionists. i got a few cheap nursing tanks from target, not perfect, but I could afford to buy a few instead of just one and they serve the purpose. I love my bravado too. It opened up a whole new nursing friendly clothing style for me. That and I'm less shy about NIPing now. I actually seek out places to NIP (nurse in public). My fav was a IHOP in the central valley (southern cal), kind of a truck stop type IHOP. The waiter couldn't even look at me, he kept throwing food/ coffee on the table, diverting his eyes and running away. Too funny!

yes, my darling daughter refuses to nurse with a blankie over her either. She thrashes and screams and gurgles so that everyone within earshot has to look to see who's killing what where. We tried that in the airport last week and I was very embarassed. a little boobie, no prob..lots of screaming, major red face.

I have some really large tanks with very low scoop necks that I can nurse out the top of, and I layer them under a T. I unlatch the bra, shove down the tank, yank up the T, and we're ready to go. I'm DD at least, so the nursing tanks looked pretty silly on me and really weren't up to supporting the troops anyways. Plus I'm in portland and it's cold, so layering solves the drafty issue.
