manual pump?

topic posted Sat, June 21, 2008 - 10:29 AM by  Jessica
hi all!
I'm needing to buy a small manual pump for an upcoming weekend trip (gasp! first time away from baby) and i was wondering what style/models people liked. This won't be getting regular use, i don't forsee being away from my son again for any reason and i normally don't pump, just nurse on demand when i'm home from work. He's over 2 yrs old so this is more for comfort and connection while i'm gone than keeping him fed.

suggestions?

i've heard the cylinder pump is very effective. i've never tried it, but had i done my research before settling for the one i have, i would have gotten a cylinder pump.

the manual pump that came with my medela pump-in-style has worked for me when i just needed to pump a little here and there (mostly for my over-supply). it works with the same attachments.

that's my only experience. worked very well. good luck!

Thanks for the offer! I would take you up on it but i've only got 2 weeks to get pumping and at this point (if memory serves from when i quit pumping around 16 months i was getting mere dribbles) i need all the lead-time i can get.

Guess i'll just buy one. I mean, child #2 is waaay in the future, but at least i'll have it.

if you want, i'll bring you mine. i'll boil it first to make sure it's really clean. i haven't used it recently, but better safe than sorry. if you don't want to borrow mine, i won't be offended, just let me know. it's here if you need it.
