Re: harmful nipple cream
Sat, May 24, 2008 - 8:54 PMI saw that today. CRAZY.
Has anyone ever even used nipple creams? I have never even needed them. The nurse at the hospital always told me to just express some milk and let that dry on my nipples. She said creams were just an expensive ploy to get moms buying more products they absolutely don't need. -

Re: harmful nipple cream
Sat, May 24, 2008 - 9:15 PMI didn't use nipple creams, but I did use soothies (www.soothies.com/gelpads.html) for a few days and I loved them!!! They were like ice cubes against my burning nipples.

Re: harmful nipple cream
Sun, May 25, 2008 - 9:22 PMi used a pure lanoline *very* sparingly for about the first two weeks post-partum and that was that. but when my nipples ached (and they really really ached early on) it was a serious blessing to me between feedings until they toughened up.
no fancy cream just lanoline and it worked for me.

Re: harmful nipple cream
Tue, May 27, 2008 - 6:36 PMThat is distressing that the warning disappeared from the FDA's website!
Last I knew, pure Lanolin was the ONLY substance other than our own milk
recommended by La Leche League for sore nipples.
How bizarre that a company would put out such a convoluted, poisonous product for this purpose. :(
